# DOCX Accept Track Changes

Accept or reject every tracked change in a Word .docx at once: insertions, deletions, moves and formatting. See the list of changes first, then download a copy with the revision markup gone. Runs in your browser.

**Use this tool:** [DOCX Accept Track Changes](https://findutils.com/convert/docx-accept-track-changes/)

## Programmatic access

- No REST or MCP id: use this tool on its page; there is no execute endpoint to call.

## Why accept tracked changes before you send a Word file?

A Word document that has been through review carries its history inside it. Every insertion and deletion is stored in the file as markup with the reviewer's name and a timestamp, and the No Markup view in Word only hides it: the deleted wording, the earlier figure and the name of whoever changed it are all still in the .docx you attach. Clearing that means opening the file in Word, going to Review, choosing Accept All Changes, and doing it again for every file. This page does the same job in the tab: drop the file, check what is in it, and download a copy where the changes are resolved into ordinary text.

## Tips

- Resolving changes is different from hiding them. Word's No Markup view only changes what you see; this page removes the revision markup from the file.
- Comments are not tracked changes. They stay unless you turn on Also remove comments, so you can export them first with DOCX Comments Extractor.
- The author, company and template stored in the file's properties are not changed here. Run DOCX Metadata Remover on the result to clear those.
- If the counts show 0, the file has no tracked changes. The download still works and is the same document, rebuilt.
- A password-protected document cannot be read in the browser. Remove the password in Word, save, and drop the new copy.
- Accepting changes does not switch Track Changes off. If the file still has it on, the page says so; switch it off in Word under Review.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does Accept all tracked changes do?

It makes every tracked change permanent and removes the markup. Inserted text becomes ordinary text, deleted text is removed, moved text stays at its new place, and the current formatting is kept. The downloaded file has no w:ins, w:del or formatting-change markup left in it.

### What does Reject all tracked changes do?

It undoes every tracked change. Inserted text is removed, deleted text comes back as ordinary text, moved text returns to its original place, and the formatting stored before each change is restored. The result is the document as it was before the tracked edits, with no revision markup left.

### Is my document uploaded?

No. The .docx is opened in your browser, rewritten there and handed back as a download. Nothing is sent to a server; you can confirm it in the network tab of your browser's developer tools.

### Is this the same as Word's No Markup view?

No. No Markup only changes what Word shows on screen; the insertions, deletions and reviewer names are still stored in the file. This page removes that markup from the file itself, so the history is gone rather than hidden.

### Does it remove comments too?

Only if you turn on Also remove comments. It is off by default, so the comments survive and you can export them first with DOCX Comments Extractor. When it is on, the comment parts, their markers in the text and the reviewer list that goes with them are removed.

### Does it remove the author and company from the file?

No. The properties Word keeps about who made the file (author, last modified by, company, template) are left as they are. DOCX Metadata Remover is the tool for those, and you can run it on the downloaded file.

### Which kinds of tracked changes are handled?

Inserted and deleted text, moved text, formatting changes to text, paragraphs, sections and tables, inserted and deleted paragraph breaks, and inserted and deleted table rows and cells. They are resolved in the body, headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes and comments, and in the styles and numbering parts.

### Can I accept some changes and reject others?

No. The page applies one choice to every change in the file. To decide change by change, use Review in Word. The list on this page shows what each change is, which helps you decide whether all or nothing is right for the file.

### What if the document has no tracked changes?

The counts show 0 and the download still works. It is the same document, rebuilt, so you can run a folder of files through without picking out the ones that were never reviewed.

### Can it open a password-protected or .doc file?

No. A password-protected .docx is encrypted, and an old .doc is a different binary format, so both are refused with a message instead of a damaged result. Remove the password or save the file as .docx in Word, then drop it again.
