## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do testnet tokens have real value?

No. Testnet faucets exist to help developers build and test blockchain applications. The tokens have zero real-world value and cannot be exchanged for real cryptocurrency.

### Can I use testnet tokens on mainnet?

No. Testnet tokens only work on their respective test networks. They cannot be transferred to mainnet or exchanged for real cryptocurrency. Each testnet is a separate blockchain.

### Do I need real crypto to use faucets?

Most faucets don't require any mainnet balance. A few (like some Alchemy faucets) may require 0.001 ETH on mainnet to prevent abuse, but many alternatives exist that require no mainnet balance at all.

### How often can I claim from a faucet?

Most faucets have a 24-hour cooldown between claims. Circle's USDC faucet has a shorter 2-hour cooldown. Solana's official faucet allows multiple claims per hour with rate limiting.

### Why doesn't my USDC show in MetaMask?

After claiming ERC-20 tokens like USDC, you need to import the token contract address in MetaMask. Go to Import Tokens, paste the USDC contract address (available in each faucet card's expanded details), and it will appear in your token list.

### Is it safe to use testnet faucets?

Yes. Testnet faucets only need your public wallet address — never share your private key or seed phrase. Using faucets is a standard and safe practice in blockchain development.

### What's the difference between Sepolia and Goerli?

Goerli was deprecated in 2024. Sepolia is now the primary Ethereum testnet used by all major tools and protocols. All active faucets in this directory use Sepolia-based networks.

### What does the 'Add to MetaMask' button do?

It sends a request to your MetaMask wallet to add the testnet network with the correct chain ID, RPC URL, and block explorer URL. It uses MetaMask's standard wallet_addEthereumChain API — completely safe and does not require any permissions beyond adding a network.
