### How do I create a seating chart?

First, set your desired number of rows and columns. Add student names, then click 'Initialize Grid' to create the layout. You can then manually assign seats or use 'Shuffle & Assign' for random placement.

### Can I manually assign specific seats?

Yes! After initializing the grid, use the dropdown in each seat to select a specific student. Previously assigned students will be moved automatically.

### How does shuffle work?

The shuffle feature randomly assigns all students to available seats. This is great for fair seating without favoritism.

### Can I print the seating chart?

Yes. Click Print to print only the seating chart: the title, the front of the room and every seat, without the settings and buttons around it. Download PDF gives you the same chart as a landscape A4 file.

### Is there a limit to the number of students?

You can add as many students as you have seats (rows times columns). The grid supports up to 10 by 10, which gives you 100 seats.

### Can I import names from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Click Import CSV/Excel and choose a CSV, TXT or Excel file with one name per row (a comma-separated list works too). Any roster file works, and a header row called Name or Student name is skipped. Names already on the list are skipped as duplicates.

### Is this seating chart maker free?

Yes. There is no account required, no usage limit, and no watermark on exported or printed charts. The tool runs entirely in your browser.

### Does the tool save my data?

No data is uploaded to any server. Names and seating arrangements stay on this page and are gone when you close the tab, so print the chart or download the PDF, and export the student list if you want to import it again next time.

### Can I use this for event or wedding seating?

Absolutely. While the tool uses classroom terminology like rows and columns, the grid works for any seating scenario including weddings, banquets, conferences, and training sessions.

### What file formats are supported for import?

CSV, TXT and Excel (XLSX or XLS). Put one name per line, or one name per cell; lines starting with # are treated as comments.
