## Why Use Retro Meeting?

Retrospectives are essential for continuous improvement. Our tool makes it easy to gather honest feedback from your team, identify patterns, and create actionable improvements - all in real-time without any signup required.

## Tips for Effective Retrospectives

- Enable anonymous mode for the first few retros with a new team to build psychological safety and encourage honest feedback.
- Use the built-in timer to keep the input phase focused. Five to ten minutes is usually enough for a team of six to eight people.
- Reveal items one by one rather than all at once. This gives each topic dedicated discussion time and prevents groupthink.
- Limit action items to three per sprint. Teams that commit to fewer changes are more likely to follow through on all of them.
- Rotate the facilitator role each sprint so every team member practices leading the discussion and gains a fresh perspective.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is my data secure?

Yes, retro items are transferred directly between participants over encrypted WebRTC connections and nothing is stored on our servers. Joining a session goes through the public PeerJS broker, which introduces the browsers to one another and can relay the connection when a direct one is not possible.

### How many people can join?

The tool supports teams of any size. Each participant connects directly to the host.

### Do I need to create an account?

No account needed. Just create a session and share the link with your team.

### What happens when the session ends?

Data is stored locally in your browser. You can export it before closing, or it will be available next time you open the tool.

### What retrospective formats are available?

We offer five built-in formats: Standard (Good/Bad/Actions), Sailboat (Wind/Anchor/Rocks/Island), 4 Ls (Liked/Learned/Lacked/Longed), Start/Stop/Continue, and fully Custom Categories where you define your own columns.

### Can I use this tool for remote teams?

Absolutely. Share the session link with anyone, anywhere. All participants connect in real-time through their browser with no software installation needed. It works perfectly for distributed and hybrid teams.

### How does anonymous mode work?

When anonymous mode is enabled, participant names are hidden on all submitted items until the host chooses to reveal them. This encourages honest, candid feedback without fear of judgment.

### Can I export the retrospective results?

Yes. You can export your entire session as Markdown, CSV, or Excel. The export includes all items, votes, categories, and participant names, making it easy to share with stakeholders or archive for future reference.

### Is there a time limit for sessions?

Sessions have an optional built-in timer that the facilitator can set. When the timer expires, input closes automatically. You can also manually open or close inputs at any time.

### How is this different from paid retrospective tools?

Unlike tools such as EasyRetro or Retrium that charge per user per month, our retrospective tool is available with no usage limits. Data transfers peer-to-peer, so nothing is stored on external servers, giving your team better privacy.
