DevKit and your data
What a DevKit purchase stores, what the extension sends when it checks its licence, and what never leaves your browser.
The short version
A summary, not a substitute for the full text below.
- Your work stays local Nothing you paste and no page you inspect is sent to us.
- One request to us The licence check: your key and a random browser id.
- No account A purchase is an email address and a key.
- No card details Stripe takes the payment. We never see the card.
01 What stays in your browser
The tools run inside your browser. What you paste, the pages you inspect, their addresses and how you use DevKit are not sent to FindUtils. There is no telemetry.
Your settings, favourites, recipes and history are kept in the browser on your computer.
02 When you buy
Stripe takes the payment and asks for your email address. From Stripe we receive that email address, the amount and currency, and Stripe's ids for the checkout and the payment. We do not receive or store card details.
With the licence we store the email address, the licence key, the number of browsers it allows, when it was paid and, if it is ever revoked, when and why.
03 The licence check
The only request DevKit makes to FindUtils is the licence check: your key, or the certificate made from it, and a random id the extension makes for that browser. It happens when you activate a browser and about every 7 days after that.
For each browser we store that random id, when it was first activated and when it last checked in. We do not keep the IP address or the browser details of a check-in. Requests are counted per IP address for a minute at a time to stop abuse; that count is not kept with your licence.
04 Email
We email you the key when you buy, and again if you ask for it. Buying DevKit does not add you to a mailing list.
05 How long it is kept
A licence has no end date, so its record is kept for as long as the licence exists: the key is checked against it.
06 Your requests
To ask what we hold about your purchase, or to have it corrected or removed, write to us from the contact page with the email address you bought with. Removing the record ends the licence.
The FindUtils Privacy Policy covers the website itself.
