Reverses every character. Flags, emoji and accented letters stay whole.
On this page, the text is reversed in your browser and is not uploaded.
What each mode does
Characters
Reads the text backwards, one character at a time. A flag, an emoji or a letter with an accent counts as one character.
Words
Keeps each word as it is and reverses their order. Punctuation stays attached to its word.
Lines
Keeps each line as it is and reverses the order of the lines. Blank lines move with the rest, and line endings (LF or CRLF) are kept.
How to reverse text

Paste the text into Your text. The reversed version appears in Reversed text as you type, and switching the mode updates it at once. -
Copy the result
Press Copy to put the reversed text on your clipboard, or Clear to start again.
Common use cases
Flip a list that is in the wrong order
Check a palindrome
Word games and puzzles
Test string handling in your own code
Why use a text reverser?
Text Reverse writes text backwards by character, by word or by line. Characters mode reverses the grapheme clusters a reader sees as single characters, so flags such as 🇹🇷, emoji sequences joined with zero-width joiners, and letters with combining accents stay whole instead of breaking apart. Words mode keeps each word intact and reverses their order, and Lines mode reverses the order of lines while keeping Windows (CRLF) or Unix (LF) line endings.
The result updates as you type. On this page, the text is reversed in your browser and is not uploaded. The same function is available as the REST tool text-reverse and the MCP tool text_reverse for scripts and AI clients.
Related tools: change letter case with the Case Converter, put lines in alphabetical or numeric order with the Text Line Sorter, and remove stray spaces and blank lines with the Whitespace Cleaner.
How it compares
Most programming languages make a naive reversal easy and a correct one harder. In JavaScript, text.split('').reverse() reverses UTF-16 code units and breaks every emoji, and [...text].reverse() reverses code points, which keeps simple emoji but still turns the flag 🇹🇷 into 🇷🇹 and moves combining accents. Text Reverse segments the text into grapheme clusters first, which is what a reader expects.
A text editor can reverse line order with a plugin or a shell command such as tac, but it needs the right tool for each mode. This page does characters, words and lines in one place, with no signup.
Tips
- To reverse each word in place, without moving the words, reverse the characters and then reverse the words of the result.
- Lines mode does not sort. Use the Text Line Sorter when you need alphabetical or numeric order.
- A trailing newline at the end of pasted text becomes an empty first line in Lines mode. Remove it first with the Whitespace Cleaner if that matters.
